Our Lake Como Highlights “If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay home.” ― James A. Michner
Varenna
We did more group bonding with a happy hour upon arrival.
The views from Varenna are spectacular.
Varenna Night Walks
Whether strolling the passerella or walking through town, night sights like this are easily found.
Bellagio
Bellagio has beautiful parks.
We strolled up the hill to shops, scenery & the best almond cookies on the planet.
We lunched on pizza & prosecco and started thinking we were real Italians.
We visited a shop that claims to have made the inaugural neckties for George W. Bush and Barak Obama demonstrating that Bellagians can be friends to everyone.
Hanging with our Group Group Happy Hour
Keeping with the "Getting to Know You" theme, tour guide, the Amazing Andrea, organized a happy hour for our group upon arrival.
Ideas for Our Next Visit
Joanne says: "Search for George Clooney."
Lunch at a Varenna lakeside cafe
Ride the hydrofoil to see more of this beautiful lake
Visit the Villa del Balbianello in Lenno, setting of the movie Casino Royale
Walks on Varenna's Passerella
The passerella is a beautiful, vine-covered walkway spanning Varenna's shoreline. It is beautifully lit at night.
Cruisin' Lake Como
Sure our Lake Tahoe is beautiful, but imagine replacing its Sierra Nevada mountains with the Swiss Alps. That's Lake Como.
Hotel Room Views
We arrived at the Royal Victoria Hotel in time to see the sun set on Lake Como. Opening our room's window, we saw this picture - just one of many amazing views.
Dinner for Two
Balancing group activities with "My Way" opportunities, we jumped from the group Happy Hour one night to a great Dinner for Two on the next at the Hotel Olivedo.
Surprises/Helpful Hints
Surprise - View from the room
Hint - Take time to interpret the Lake Como boat schedule. It's complicated since the car ferries, hydrofoils, and slow boats are all combined in the same pamphlet. Note the lightbulb (left) has yet to turn on.
